A Houston firefighter was injured battling a house fire that may have been started by an unattended fire pit that was fanned by heavy winds.
Officials say a couple was inside their home watching TV with a firepit burning outside.
Houston fire officials say around 9:30 p.m., the fire started to extend into the home with the help of heavy winds, KTRK ABC 13 reported.
"I think in this case, they still had some embers burning in the outdoor fireplace, and it extended through the wind, pushing it toward the house," District Chief Joseph Leggio said.
A firefighter experienced a neck injury when debris fell on his head during the fire.
